You know, I just realised something new! In one of Spock’s most famous mind melds in the Star Trek episode “The Devil in The Dark”, he melds with a Horta, which is the odd shaggy silicon based life form featured therein. Crying out, essentially in the voice of the Horta, Spock says “Devils!” referring to the colonists that inadvertently destroyed her eggs. But, for the first time in 45 years of watching these reruns I realized that the devil in the dark isn’t the Horta, it’s the human!  I have no idea whether that’s an official interpretation or not, and perhaps many of you had this epiphany decades ago, but I thought I’d share .Devil in the dark indeed. No kill I?
